L-tryptophan: Your ally in the fight against stress and insomnia
Tryptophan (l-tryptophan) is one of the most important amino acids in the human body. It regulates good mood and the diurnal cycle and is essential for the normal functioning of the nervous system.
It is a precursor of serotonin (the happiness hormone. It has functions in regulating a person’s mood, mood and appetite. A lack of serotonin can very often even lead to depression) and melatonin, which is responsible for physiological sleep.
FEATURES:
– supports normal physiological sleep: length and depth of sleep
– increases serotonin and melatonin levels
– has antidepressant and sedative effects
– Supports the production of neurotransmitters
Melatonin is a better choice for short-term sleep problems because it acts faster than tryptophan and directly regulates sleep. On the other hand, for long-term improvement of sleep quality and mood, tryptophan will work better.
Increased tryptophan levels can be associated with improved mood, increased so-called life drive (in a nutshell: the will to live :)). Ashavagandha, on the other hand, is said to prepare the body for increased stress, increase physical and mental performance.
According to scientific studies – 1 g of L-tryptophan significantly reduced sleep latency: lower doses produced a trend in the same direction. Stage IV sleep was significantly prolonged by 1/4 g L-tryptophan. These results at low doses have interesting implications, as the normal dietary intake of L-tryptophan is between 1/2 g and 2 g per day. Studies indicate that tryptophan improves wellbeing after just two weeks of dosing tryptophan cannot be combined with drugs from the MAO (monoamine oxygenase) inhibitor group. These are preparations used to treat depression and inhibit the breakdown of neurotransmitters, including serotonin.
