Kanna 25 mg – natural support for relaxation and mood balance

Sceletium tortuosum (L.) N.E.Br. (Mesembryanthemaceae), commonly known as Kanna or Kougoed, is a traditionally used plant in South Africa, especially for the native San and Khoikhoi tribes. Today, the plant has gained a strong appeal and reputation around the world for its ability to promote well-being by supporting balance in challenging moments and fostering relaxation. In the past, the plant was used by indigenous San hunter-gatherers and the Khoi people to quench thirst, fight fatigue and for daily practices and rituals.

Calmness and concentration in challenging moments

  • It has been studied in the context of the serotonin system and mood balance,
  • It can support comfort during more difficult and stressful times,
  • It facilitates maintaining concentration for longer periods,
  • It is one of the few substances sometimes described in the context of relaxation and mental clarity,
  • The literature analyzes its relationship with selected signaling pathways in the nervous system,
  • The product will be great for people who are looking for support for relaxation and focus during the day (e.g. during intense mental exertion),

Preclinical data from laboratory studies and experimental models, providing mechanistic insights into Kanna, show that the plant is being analyzed in the context of the serotonin system and selected enzymes associated with the regulation of nerve transmission through the main bioactive alkaloids present in this unique plant. Scientific publications describe the potential for effects on mood and relaxation, but the results should be viewed as an area of research, dependent on many factors. These actions are also supported by reports of studies that analyzed subjective feelings of tension and emotional responses.

In a six-week clinical trial, daily intake of Zembrin® Kanna extract was analyzed for cognitive function and perceived “alert calm.” As Jeremy Appleton, N.D., director of scientific and medical affairs at PLT Health Solutions, explains: “Clinical studies have shown effects on improving executive function and cognitive flexibility, while looking at areas related to stress response.”

The mechanisms behind these beneficial cognitive effects are thought to be driven by the effects of stress resilience on key brain circuits, as well as the mood-enhancing effects of mechanisms related to serotonin transmission. Several of these key mechanisms have been elucidated in important preclinical studies. (Removed the bit about apoptosis / anti-inflammation / “extending cellular life” as too hard and medical)

Cognitive flexibility is the ability to adjust our thoughts and actions based on our environment, demonstrating agility and flexibility in our thinking and actions, and enables us to switch seamlessly between mental tasks (i.e., task-switching), which has practical implications for coping with daily responsibilities.

Between preclinical laboratory studies and clinical studies of safety and tolerability in humans (not to mention a long history of traditional use), cannabis has shown a favorable tolerability profile in available studies. In clinical studies at doses up to 50 milligrams, significant side effects or complaints are simply not common. In addition, most clinical studies involve doses of 25 to 50 milligrams, so higher doses are usually unnecessary when trying to harvest the targeted brain benefits of this particular botanical bioactive agent.
